Racing has
allowed my skills as a yachtsman to progress from
dinghies at the age of 5 to top-level regattas such as
the 1996 Rolex Commodores Cup. Working as a rigger
has given me considerable technical experience on a wide
variety of different yachts and the opportunity to join
the Expo 98 around-the-world rally as mate on Infatuation
an Oyster 70, by the end of which I had taken over as
captain. I then moved on to become the captain of the new
Infatuation a 30mt Jongert, for two years, followed by 3
years on Free Spirit an Oyster 80, before taking over
Charlatan in New Zealand in 2003. Since then I have taken
the boat to places as diverse as the Galapagos, Panama,
the Caribbean and Alaska. Hobbies include diving, watersports, cycling, reading. |

My interest in yachting
started at an early age on my family's motorboat in
Auckland. This lead me to take a five-year boat building
apprenticeship. Moving to Europe, I joined a sailing
holiday company in Greece, initially as shorebased
engineer, then fleet engineer & finally fleet
captain, responsible for twelve charter yachts In 2000, I sailed to the Caribbean to take up a position on a 45m motor yacht. Since then I have worked on a variety of superyachts, joining Charlatan in May 2004 where I ensure the smooth running of the machinery and systems, and assist the captain in keeping Charlatan's exterior immaculate. Hobbies include surfing, adventure travel, photography & sport fishing |
I learned to sail in the
warm waters of Greece where I went on to instruct
keelboat sailing for two years. Returning to London I
trained as a chef at Leith's School of Food & Wine,
graduating with distinction. After working for a year as
a freelance cook in London & Scotland I returned to
yachting in 2001. Now with 30,000NM behind me and three years working as chef on private and charter yachts, I have considerable sailing and cooking experience to offer any guest on board Charlatan. Hobbies include wakeboarding, swimming, diving & cryptic crosswords |

I have been involved in
sailing from a young age, helming dinghies and competing
at a National level and crewing larger One Design keel
boats on the Norfolk Broads. I regularly participate in
Regattas as a team member. Im a Qualified Nurse (RGN) with two years post registration experience. I chose to carry my invaluable skills and follow my passion to gain experience on larger sailing yachts. Charlatan has given me this fantastic opportunity. I have also worked with a well known top high profile catering company as a hostess and as a chalet host in Austria. My experience and training ensures that guests can expect a high level of service delivered with a friendly and professional manner. Hobbies include sailing, painting, skiing, tennis and watersports. |
I started yachting as a
youth, learning to sail on yachts and dinghies whilst
growing up on the East coast of England. Since then I
have developed my sailing skills; competing in
international events in dinghies and as part of a
successful yacht racing team. My interest in yachting has lead me to obtain a Degree in Meteorology and this, along with my boatyard & sail-making experience makes me an invaluable team member onboard Charlatan. Hobbies include, watersports, outdoor activities, squash and reading. |
